Vinnie Trometter (he/him/his) joins the OFRF group after being concerned in a lot of agriculture coverage campaigns on Capitol Hill referring to anti-trust, pesticide preemptions, climate-smart agriculture, nation of origin labeling, the Commodity and Crop Insurance coverage titles of the Farm Invoice, and animal welfare legal guidelines involving the egg and pork industries.
He is also skilled in worldwide commerce points, having labored at Enterprise Eire, Eire’s export promotion company, and publishing op-eds about tariffs and international direct funding in retailers such because the Boston Herald, Chicago Tribune, and the Pittsburgh Publish-Gazette.
Vinnie’s ardour for natural agriculture stems from his mom rising up on a subsistence natural farm exterior of Philadelphia. The household primarily grew specialty crops and would drive into the town on a “huckster truck” to promote fruit and greens. Later in life, she turned a professor of culinary arts on the Pennsylvania Faculty of Expertise for 35 years.
As such, Vinnie grew up closely influenced by ideas of wholesome consuming and realizing the place your meals comes from. He views the promotion of natural agriculture as a method for farmers to mitigate provide chain dangers and change into higher stewards of the land.
Vinnie did his undergraduate research at Penn State College and earned a grasp’s diploma at Trinity Faculty of Dublin, Eire. When he’s not working, he spends time with household again in Williamsport, PA, and cheers for his Nittany Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers.
