As a toddler, I used to construct worlds for my Barbies. I’d spend infinite hours with my sister, Religion, crafting intricate realms, stitching tiny clothes from vibrant materials, and fashioning furnishings from corks, toothpicks, and bottle caps! Early experiences like these launched me to the magic of design and impressed me to turn out to be a designer and artist. So you’ll be able to think about how excited I used to be when @BarbieStyle reached out about what gave the impression of a dream collab: Jungalow designing a room in Barbie’s dreamhouse !!!

We had our first name with the Mattel workforce (the kindest, most inventive bunch!) on a Friday and the next Monday we had been at their workplaces perusing their classic Barbie furnishings archives, purchasing for our dreamhouse! I even bought to deliver Ida! It was unbelievable. The artistry and a spotlight to element that goes into constructing (or in some instances sourcing) all issues Barbie is basically inspiring.
We bought to pick totally different doll heads, physique varieties, and CLOTHES – oh the garments!
So very cool to see all of the Barbie doll heads! Their hair and make up is at all times on level!
How enjoyable is that this wardrobe choice?! We couldn’t cease oohing and awwing after we had been making our selects. Too enjoyable!
Aimee from workforce Jungalow (left) discovered some Barbie pants we want in our dimension! And Jungalow’s very personal Piper (proper) having enjoyable taking part in Barbie’s stylist for a day!
After that, we headed again to the Jungalow studio and I began concepting. I gathered inspiration photographs and rendered a room that I might see Barbie and her pals having a celebration in. The wonderful Mattel workforce introduced my idea to life (the picture on the very prime of this weblog publish is NOT photoshopped! It was truly constructed to Barbie scale–the material and textiles had been truly made with our prints, they usually even created teeny tiny variations of my books! ahhh!) and now I simply need to chill with Barbie there all day lengthy!
My hope was to create an area the place Barbie might embrace her individuality and be surrounded by a kaleidoscope of textures, hues, and plants. We recovered the classic furnishings, and upcycled and reinvented them, simply as Religion and I did as youngsters. However, this dreamhouse isn’t only a play house; it’s an invite for Barbie, her pals, and for all of us to nurture our personal creativity, rejoice our personal uniqueness, and revel within the magic and the enjoyable of unbridled self-expression.
Come on in, let’s play, create, and rejoice our interior wild little one on this jungalicious Barbie dreamhouse!
